The Rat Race And Strains Of Long Working Hours And Targets To Realize Are Allowing People To Reassess Their Working Life

November 25th, 2009 | by Sydney |

More than ever in these times of market downturn, companies all require only the finest people to work for them and companies therefore put their staff under greater and greater strain to perform.

The employees are given targets to meet. If they meet their first objective, they are given a higher objective the next time. If targets are not achieved, then if these are bonus related targets, they may result in the fact that no bonus is achieved.

Warnings may be given to staff who do not achieve their targets and even where targets are not bonus related, it will impact on their annual review, which in turn will impact their salary increase.

Lots of businesses could be depicted as cut-throat. They only want the finest employees, so yearly they are attempting to remove the worst achievers from their company. The final outcome this has is that a member of staff who was originally considered an asset to the company at one time, may over time become a person who only meets targets, then eventually falls short of targets.

The outcome for staff can be very disheartening. Employees are for ever looking over their shoulders to see what is taking place. They feel the need to work longer and longer hours in an endeavour to achieve the unachievable. They are worried about taking time off work lest this is seen as lack of commitment and all these issues result in a very unhappy and unhealthy place of work.

It should be no shock then that some employees are taking time to evaluate their working life. More and more employees are deciding to leap off the hamster wheel and take a change of course. Right now, the decision to Work From Home may be seen as the route ahead.

With the rise in the number of homes with access to a computer, the Internet Business is increasing and this has the knock on effect of having more Online Jobs available. It could be that employees who have resolved that they would prefer to Work From Home can actually persist with the role they were carrying out for a company, but working for themselves from their house. If your job was one which in the past you loved, what could be better than taking the chance to continue this line of work, but being self employed, so all targets set are of your own setting.

A way to attain this could be to start your own Internet Business. This should notify searchers what your company is about and what you can do for them. If you have lots of years of knowledge in this field, your site should reflect this and when possible have acknowledgements from happy customers to develop trust.

Of course, starting your own Internet Business is not a quick fix, as it can take some time to implement. If this is really how you envisage yourself going forward though, there is no reason to let this pevent you. Perhaps continuing with your current job while starting up your business would be the way to achieve this.

For some folk though, this is not what they want. They like the concept of being able to Work From Home, but not be self employed, and for these people looking at the Online Jobs which are available could reveal a gem. If you find a job which you really think would enhance your life, then it makes sense to try.

You have ultimate responsibility for your own contentment. If you are not content with your current job, then choose to do something about it. Think about the alternatives available to you and make your move. Happiness should ensue.
