Graduates From University Are Finding It Hard To Obtain Jobs In Their Chosen Area Of Expertise
December 9th, 2009 | by Sydney |Many years of learning, completing assignments, taking exams, running up student borrowings. All will be worthwhile when you manage to get a job in the discipline for which you have such passion.
Now you have got your degree and it is “Welcome to the real world!”. There are roles available, for which you would be perfect, but they all have the same finishing sentence – must have experience. The confidence you gained during your study at university, in the knowledge that you are obtaining all the latest knowledge in your discipline, seems to count for zilch. Nobody is willing to give you a job because you do not have years of applicable work experience.
Your bubble starts to pop. The CV you so carefully put together is just not right to get you past the agencies and into employment. What can you do? Putting up with the job you were doing at the local coffee shop, bar or restaurant while you were studying is really not what you saw as your career path.
You now need to totally rethink your options. What are the Careers In Demand right now? Most graduates have a vast understanding of PCs and the internet – would it therefore be worth considering a job in the Computer Business? Is it worth considering the option to Make Money From Home?
You may think that as a young person you really do not want to Make Money From Home. You want experience working in a busy environment. But consider running your own Computer Business… You may then be in a position to obtain experience in exactly the field you love. Working for yourself would mean you get all the profits and if in the years ahead you decide you would prefer to work for another company, you would probably be able to sell your own Computer Business as a going concern.
It may well be that once you have worked for yourself and become established, you are in a position to provide Careers In Demand for new graduates. How wonderful to know that you have helped yourself originally and are now able to help future graduates obtain that elusive experience in a working environment.
Maybe you will decide that you like the thought of being able to Make Money From Home – an opportunity which until today you had not considered, but are not sure exactly what sort of work you would be able to do. Look on line for a brainwave. There are many alternatives for jobs in the Internet Business, but there are also Careers In Demand in the franchise industry. Some franchises may be relatively pricey to buy into, but there are others which are relatively cheap, many under ?10,000 and it may be that you could buy into such a franchise, therefore establishing your own business, but with some support from the chain.
If as a recent graduate you feel that the alternative to Make Money From Home is not right for you, continue your search in your chosen career, offer to do voluntary work for a company who does have links to your preferred role and keep confident that one day you will get there. It may be an employers’ market today, but there will always be Best Paid Careers and your willingness to gain experience in any form possible will hold you in good stead.
Good luck for the journey ahead!
